Attracting female students to STEM learning and future careers has always been a high priority to REA.

Extensive nationwide research by REA into the psychological drivers which inspire young girls to pursue highly technical career pathways has resulted in our programs featuring specific learning methods.

The results to date are very encouraging.

  • 38% of participants in all REA programs are girls
  • 50% of participants in the Subs in Schools Technology Challenge are female
  • 58% of girls who take part in REA programs change their career choices to a STEM-related vocation

The reigning National Champions of the F1inSchools STEM Challenge are a Tasmanian all-girl team. The inaugural National Champions of the Subs in Schools Technology Challenge were all girls. The first Australian team to win the Land Rover 4×4 in Schools Technology Challenge was led by a girl. Female team managers have been an integral part of our nation’s top teams and have achieved three World Championships and three runners-up places.
