Outback STEM Education Initiative

Outback-STEM

Using the excitement of F1in Schools & 4×4 in Schools, Re-Engineering Australia Foundation is reaching out to engage more students in Science Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) in regional and remote communities

but we need help.

We are aiming to bring students and schools from the cities and the bush together under the banner of both F1 in Schools and 4×4 in Schools. We will be facilitating schools in major cities adopting and collaborating with schools in regional and remote areas across Australia.

Students respond to activities they can relate to. The success of the recent F1 in Schools and 4×4 in Schools National Finals in attracting 15,000+ students over 2 day, highlights the impact F1 can have on student levels of interest. It is now time for REA to use this interest to expand our activities further into the BUSH. Our goal is to provide both indigenous and non indigenous students in regional and remote Australia the same opportunities kids in the cities have had for years…eliminating the tyranny of distance.

The Power of F1

We will engage the support of our F1 Heroes to help influence the lives of students across Australia. Being able to meet Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton or Adrian Newey can change a young life forever…so lets give that opportunity to more kids from the bush.

The students are ready to go … so are we … all we need to make it happen is:

  • State & Federal Government Support … primarily by way of funding.
  • City schools with F1 experience willing to be a mentor for indigenous students or a remote school.
  • Industry support … A good project for BHP-Billiton & the CSIRO don’t you think?
  • People willing to write a letter to their local member both State and Federal asking them to get behind this initiative.

First Engagement

REA’s first target will be to work with schools in the Pilbara, Kimberly & Gascoyne areas of Western Australia. We aim to link schools from these remote but beautiful areas with schools in cities across Australia.

We are also working to have a City/Bush Collaboration team represent Australia at the 2016 F1 in School and 4×4 in Schools World Finals.

Combining the innovative capacity of the Bush with the resources of our cities to create the best educational environment in the world for our students.
