4th July

Today is the 4th July – Independence Day … the American equivalent of Australia Day. Its a day for bar-b-ques and having fun and Washington is set up for one big party.

Part of the 4th of July celebration in Washington involves a parade down Constitution avenue with hundreds of thousands of people lining the street 10 deep. Our students couldn’t help themselves … they wangled their way into carrying a giant American flag in the procession … an opportunity which they thought was rather cool.

At about 2pm it began raining so it was back inside the many museums and art galleries to catch up on the things that were missed yesterday.
