As part of the 2013 National Final, teams and teachers will be involved in REA organised activities such as industry tours.
This year we are fortunate to have access to two tours.
BAE Systems Australia
On Tuesday 26th February students and their teachers will have the opportunity to tour the BAE Systems facility in Williamstown where the first of the LHD hulls recently arrived for completion of the superstructure.
The LHD01 hull has been transported from Spain to Australia by a Heavy Lift Ship, Blue Marlin. The trip took around eight weeks and passed through the Rip into Port Philip Bay on the morning of the 17 Oct 2012.
This is the first of two hulls to arrive in the country and will be fitted out with the latest communications and radar technology to allow both military and non military roles to be undertaken across our region.
All persons participating in the tour must adhere to strict PPE requirements.

On Wednesday and Thursday the students and their teachers will be taken on a behind the scenes tour where they will have the opportunity to visit global aerospace companies exhibiting at the Airshow. These include:
- Northrup Grumman
They will also have a close-up look at some of Australia’s most sophisticated aerospace technology such as the BOEING Globemaster C-17, F18 Fighter Jets and the F18 Flight Simulator as they learn about careers that exist within Defence Industries. They may even get the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the F18 simulator.
Career & Skills Forum
On Friday, 1 March 2013, teams and teachers will have the opportunity to attend a Careers and Skills Forum conducted by the Aerospace Maritime and Defence Foundation of Australia Limited.
The aim of the Career and Skills Forum is to inform educators and careers professionals of the opportunities that exist in the aviation, aerospace, and defence sectors and to provide useful information concerning the training and educational pathways that are involved.
The second objective is, where possible, to provide information directly to students of those same opportunities and career pathways.
